I think that it is important to find a balance. A person learns everyday without even being aware of it, but if someone is too focused on one thing then it is likely thet they will miss out on all the other experiences and learning opportunities. I believe that knowledge is among the most important things, but not only knowledge, also variety in knowledge. When you meet a person who knows everything about somthing, it can be interesting, but a truely wise personcan teach you many things.

Quest in Moderation

A quest for knowledge is beneficial when it is moderation. You don't want it to take over everything you do; it needs to be balanced. In the novel Frankenstein, Victor's quest for knowledge completely takes him over. He does not see his friends or family, and really has no desire to, he does not sleep or eat, and he gets sick. In this case, knowledge is not benefiting him; it is destroying him. To contrast this, the creature's quest for knowledge is healthier. He interrupts his quest to do other things, such as observe his surroundings or work, so that when it is time to learn he is more focused and has a desire to learn all he can then--he does not get worn out by learning.
